Ace Alarms and security systems are based in Burgess hill and install fire alarm systems in Brighton & Hove, East Grinstead, Crawley and surrounding towns throughout East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

Fire alarms are often requested to be installed by local authorities, such as building control, local fire department and councils and insurance companies.

Fire alarms have 2 different categories:

L = Life – designed to protect peoples lives . This is usually at the request of local authorities or fire officers.

P: = Property – designed to protect peoples businesses and the contents of the building. P Category systems are requested by either insurers or Business owners protecting the business stock.

Both categories then have a number and letter associated to the amount of protection devices required to give adequate protection for the specific building and it’s occupants.

Example: A Hotel or nursing home would require a LD1 fire alarm system, which is full coverage in all rooms – including loft spaces, basements, voids etc. Where an LD3 fire alarm system is to protect the exit routes of a building, to ensure the residents have a safe escape route in the event of a fire.

You will be advised by your fire officer, local authorities, fire risk assessor or your insurance company, what type and grade alarm system for your building/environment. Ace alarms can then design, install and commission your fire alarm system and provide all the required certification in accordance with BS5839-6:2013 for domestic properties and to BS5839-1:2013 for commercial and industrial properties.

Ace Alarms can then provide a bespoke maintenance agreement for your property/company. The costs vary depending on the size of the installation and how many maintenance visits are due each year. You would be required to have it serviced quarterly, 6 monthly or annually depending on the nature of the building.

It is important that all visits are logged in a fire alarm log book and at least one member of staff or resident is responsible for carrying out a weekly test on your fire alarm system (you only need to test one device and the following week test a different device, such as breakglasses).
